Public art at Zinkensdamm subway station

Collaborative new works, comissioned by Marie-Louise Ekman
Translations, perhaps?

Marie-Louise came by my studio with some printouts of recent paintings and asked me if I could help with making them fit a wider format.
She had been invited to participate in a temporary (1 year) public art show, in the Stockholm subway. I said I could.

But wouldn't it be more interesting to adapt to the medium at our disposal here (big format billboard print)?
Instead of blown up photos of oil paintings, I suggested we could re-paint everything digitally. Flat - like her lithographies. She liked the idea!
Marie-Louise is a very generous artist, open to newness and experimentation, so I was given a pretty long leash here.
I made some compositional changes, threw some things around and made a few color tweaks. And obviously made everything EXTRA FLAT.
But aside from that, my main focus was to faithfully repaint each line as true to her original oil paintings as possible.
One line at a time, digitally hand-painted. Her lines, painted by me.
